Faith Explorers meet in the Luke Chapel and Lounge on Monday evenings starting at 7:30 pm and closing by 9:30 pm except during school holidays.
This group meets in a relaxed atmosphere to discuss new ideas and study material in contemporary Christian theology from such authors such as Lloyd Geering, Marcus J Borg, John Dominic Crossan, Walter Brueggemann, and John (Jack) Spong. The format is to meet over a coffee, view or review material and then discuss its implications for concerned Christians in the 21st century. Studies generally run for a number of successive weeks (2- 4), then a gap for a few weeks (eg over school holidays) and then a further series starts. People are therefore able to join for individual evenings or the whole series.
The material being considered may be from books, articles or DVDs.
For the last few weeks we have been reading and discussing the book ‘Christianity for the Rest of Us’ by Dianne Butler Bass, Harper One 2006. Next Monday 21 May we be discussing Chapter 16 Transforming Congregations using the material in the book and the websites of the 5 featured churches.
