As the people of Tawa Union church we see ourselves on a journey with God. We want to encourage people to think about spiritual and life affirming matters using the Bible and 2,000 years of Christian witness as a guide. We believe that Christianity is not about telling people what they should believe. We aim to provide a respectful setting where people from all cultures can share their views and learn from each other on their journey.
Being a Christian is about trying to live according to the example and teachings of Jesus. He accepted and cared about people as individuals and he challenged the unjust systems of his day. We are trying to follow his example through caring for people, promoting an honest and fair society and sharing our faith journey.
Our logo, above, represents a braided river as its winds its way. The path it takes is not straight to the destination. Similarly, the members of Tawa Union regard the Christian life of faith as a journey, not as a destination to be attained. The path of life twists and tuns as the events in our life change our perceptions; similarly so does our understanding of faith. Our faith assists in interpreting, guiding and supporting our life experiences; equally the way we live can help grow our faith. For us, journeying, discovery, exploration, reflection, sharing and action are key facets of the Christain life.
We invite you to share the journey with us.
