On 2nd July 1972 the official signing of the union of St Aidain’s Presbyterian Church, St Stephen’s Methodist Church and St Luke’s Church of Christ (Associated Churches of Christ) was celebrated. In the early 1970s
New Zealand churches were looking at the model of a Christian Union of the five main stream churches. We in Tawa felt that this was a good thing and so became a Union Parish on that date.
Over the weekend of Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July this year we will celebrate 40 years as a Union Church.
The Saturday will be a time of reminiscing and catching up with old friends, on the Sunday we will hold a Celebration Service at 9.30am in the church.
If you would like to take part in this celebration please contact the Church Office at tawa_union@orcon.net.nz for further details.
There were four sections to the TUC Summer Picture Show this year. Thanks to all who entered. The judges thought that the quality of our photos was up this year. Congratulations to our winners and those mentioned in dispatches.
